Symposium With Dr. John UI and Claire Sylvia
|
John E. UI, DO, OMM, is conducting a symposium featuring a special presentation on the final day by organ transplant recipient and author Claire Sylvia.
Dr. UI will perform CranioSacral Therapy sessions with a number of pre-selected special-needs cases as well as audience volunteers (time permitting). As a participant you’ll:
- Receive detailed explanations as Dr. UI proceeds through the various cases.
- Closely observe the nuances of his distinctive treatment style.
- Glean valuable information from other CST practitioners as they seek advice on particular cases and share patient successes.
Organ transplant recipient and author Claire Sylvia will join Dr. UI to speak on:
Living With Organ Transplants: An Unexpected Journey of Rediscovery.
Following a heart, double-lung transplant, Ms. Sylvia thought her road to recovery would be a fairly predictable one. Nothing could have prepared her for what lay ahead, however, as she began experiencing attitudes, habits and tastes that were foreign to her — attributes, it turned out, in keeping with those of the 18-year-old male whose heart and lungs she had received. Out of the experience she penned the book A Change of Heart: A Memoir (Little, Brown and Company, 1997, co-written with William Novak), which chronicled her journey of body, mind and soul through this period.
- Ms. Sylvia will discuss the unusual phenomena that occurred in her body and her life following her transplant.
- Dr. UI will discuss and demonstrate how complementary modalities such as CranioSacral Therapy may help reduce organ rejection.
