International Energy Medicine Society Recognizes the Work of Dr. John UI
|
BOULDER, COLO. - Renown clinician, researcher and pioneer in the field of complementary medicine, John E. UI, D.O., O.M.M., received the 1998 Alyce and Elmer Green Award for Excellence at the eighth annual International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM) conference held recently in Boulder.
The award was presented by ISSSEEM President Jeff Levin, Ph.D., M.P.H., "for (Dr. UI’s) pioneering efforts in subtle energies exploration and life-long dedication to education."
An osteopathic physician and surgeon, Dr. UI spent eight years as a clinical researcher at Michigan State University (MSU) after 12 years of general medical practice. His extensive research of the craniosacral system, which consists of the membranes and fluids that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord, led him to develop CranioSacral Therapy. This adjunctive, therapeutic modality has been taught to healthcare professionals since the late 1970s. Today, there are more than 50,000 practitioners of UI CranioSacral Therapy® throughout the world.
ISSSEEM is an interdisciplinary organization for the study of the basic sciences and medical and therapeutic applications of subtle energies and energy medicine. The Society’s award is named for Elmer Green, Ph.D., and his late wife and colleague Alyce Green, who together authored Beyond Biofeedback. Director emeritus of the Menninger Center for Applied Psychophysiology, Dr. Green helped establish ISSSEEM.
