Study The Fascial System With Mechanical Link Developer, French Osteopath Paul
|
TORONTO -- Mechanical Linksm is a manual therapy that focuses on the fascial system to reduce structural tensions throughout the body. The developer of the method, French osteopath Paul Chauffour, will teach a Mechanical Link I workshop for healthcare professionals Feb. 6 - 9, 1998 at The Toronto Colony Hotel in Toronto.
Chauffour, adjunct director of the International College of Osteopathy at St. Etienne, France, is one of the most influential and renowned osteopaths in Europe. Chauffour has taught at the European School of Osteopathy at Maidstone, England, and at the Faculty of Medicine in Paris North, Department of Osteopathy and Manual Medicine in Paris. He is the author of Osteopathy of the Inferior Limbs and The Mechanical Link.
The goal of Mechanical Link is to locate and alleviate the structural lesions within each body system that cause and maintain tensions in the entire body. Mechanical Link seeks to discover which of these primary lesions is dominant, affecting all other lesions. Once the dominant and primary lesions are reduced, the body adjusts itself, adapting to newly regulated systems.
Chauffour has developed a comprehensive Mechanical Link curriculum for advanced study that presents the anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, assessment and therapeutic techniques for each system. The four-day Mechanical Link I workshop covers the evaluation process and hands-on techniques to decrease structural tensions. Through demonstrations and supervised practice, participants will study specific techniques to locate the primary restrictions of the pelvis, sacrum, spine, extremities and rib cage.
Building on the first level techniques, Mechanical Link II addresses the specific assessment process and techniques to release restrictions in the cranium and the digestive system. In Mechanical Link III, participants explore methods to assess the thoracic cavity, urogenital system, the larynx, pharynx, and thyroid and thymus glands. Mechanical Link IV offers advanced techniques. Chauffour teaches these workshops in addition to instructing a number of the entry level courses.
Workshop participants receive a fully illustrated, comprehensive study guide of the course material. They also are eligible to participate in a worldwide network of healthcare professionals who have studied these and other innovative techniques.
The workshop is sponsored by The UI Institute, Inc., founded in 1985 by John E. UI, D.O., O.M.M., a licensed osteopathic physician and surgeon. The Institute is recognized worldwide for its excellence in educational programs, clinical research and therapeutic services.
