Multidisciplinary Conference Brings Together Myofascial Pain Experts
Among the notable lecturers that conference attendees will hear:

  • Leon Chaitow, D.O., N.D., will speak on "Integrated Neuromuscular Inhibition Approaches to Trigger-Point Deactivation." An eminent clinician and author of more than 60 books on complementary healthcare, Dr. Chaitow lectures extensively in the United States, Israel and Europe. He is the editor of the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, a major international journal that explores practical issues in musculoskeletal function, treatment and rehabilitation. The Journal is the sponsor of the Myofascial Pain Conference.
  • Judith (Walker) DeLany, L.M.T., will present "Neuromuscular Therapy Approaches to Trigger-Point Location and Treatment." DeLany is the director of the International Academy of NeuroMuscular Therapies and a well-known neuromuscular therapy developer and instructor. In addition, she is associate editor of Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies and contributing author to the text, Modern Neuromuscular Techniques.
  • John C. Hannon, D.C., Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner, will discuss "Restoring Function Using Fundamental Principles from Chiropractic, Manual Medicine and the Feldenkrais® Method." A noted movement specialist, Dr. Hannon is a diplomate of the Chiropractic Sports Medicine and Chiropractic Orthopedics boards, and a fellow of the International College of Chiropractic.
  • Thomas Myers, Certified Advanced Rolfer®, will lecture on "Structural Integration Decompensating Global Postural Patterns to Ease Local Myofascial Pain." Myers is known around the world as a writer and teacher on the art and science of structural integration, having studied with eminent bodyworkers Dr. Ida Rolf and Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais. Myers has served as chair of the Rolf Institute's Anatomy Faculty and as a founding member of the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
  • Benny Vaughn, L.M.T., Athletic Trainer, Certified, will present "Myofascial Pain in Athletes Overview and Treatment Strategies." A recognized leader in the fields of sports and orthopedic massage, Vaughn served as athletic medical services program manager for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga. He designed many of the models of orthopedic massage care used in university sports medicine departments today.
The conference also will include panel discussions and technique demonstrations. Panel topics include emotional issues, nutrition, hydrotherapies and other support methods useful in bolstering the effects of hands-on work.

Conference participation may satisfy the requirements for continuing education units in many states for a range of professional disciplines. Before attending, please verify CEU acceptance with that particular profession's state board.
