Intensive Programs are staffed by UI clinicians and other experienced, pre-approved Visiting Therapists who want to enhance their CranioSacral Therapy skills and experience multiple-therapist work. In exchange for the opportunity to grow as a therapist and potentially work alongside CST-developer Dr. John E. Upledger, Visiting Therapists receive a modest honorarium ($200/day) to help defray traveling expenses.
Prerequisites
Before becoming a Visiting Therapist:
1. You must have a professional license or certification that enables you to do hands-on work in the state in which you live.
2. You must successfully complete the following workshops: CranioSacral Therapy (CST) I and II, SomatoEmotional Release I and II, and Advanced I CST.
We also strongly urge you to become as comfortable as possible using therapeutic imagery and dialogue skills before becoming a Visiting Therapist. One great way to do this is to attend one of these three classes: Therapeutic Imagery and Dialogue 1, Clinical Applications of CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release, or Clinical Applications of Advanced CranioSacral Therapy.
To find a workshop near you, call Educational Services toll-free at 1-800-233-5880 or (561) 622-4334. You're also welcome to view workshops via the Internet. Click here, or cut and paste into your address bar: http://www.iahe.com/controller/IaheCurriculumDisplay?curriculumCode=CST .
3. You must spend at least one week at Upledger Clinic being evaluated as you work hands-on with clients in an Intensive Program. Throughout the week, our clinicians will provide you with valuable feedback you can put to use in your practice. Upon UI approval, you will then become certified as a Visiting Therapist eligible to participate in Intensive Programs as needed. Please note: Being evaluated is no guarantee you will be approved as a Visiting Therapist.
To prepare to be evaluated, consider attending an Extern Program at Upledger Clinic. You'll have the opportunity to hone your techniques by working with our UI staff clinicians and sometimes even Dr. Upledger himself. To learn more about the Extern Program, click here, or cut and paste into your address bar: http://iahe.com/controller/IaheCourseDisplay?id=10012&courseCode=CPP .
4. You must have liability insurance that includes UI as a rider. (The cost generally runs about $25 per year. Please check with your insurance provider for details.)
Still not sure about whether becoming a Visiting Therapist is right for you? Listen to a few words from clients who have attended our Intensive Programs:
I want to thank you for allowing me to be happy again and feel normal physically. I would also like to let you know what a difference it has made for my family emotionally. All the therapists were great and my time here was very comfortable.
I have lost nearly all the pain in my neck, hips and back. I got lots more than I ever expected. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. How special you all are to use your gifts to help someone like me.
I feel free and happy. I feel less fidgety and more at peace. I have a calm, secure sense of myself, like I can handle my life and my future.
The immediate benefits I observed were less stress, more of an idea how I can be involved in helping myself, and less pain.
[My daughter's] eyes seem to be tracking better and there's more smiling as she seems to be more aware of everything going on around her! Her communication, attention span, vision, hearing and mobility all seem to have improved.
[My daughter] has connected better to her body and she is making more of an effort to participate in her life. She participates in conversation without prompting, has steadier hand coordination, better posture. She also moves between her wheelchair and other chairs more easily.
I already knew that CST can be helpful for so much but I was surprised how much more it can do!
I felt such safety and tender loving care from being in the program. I was able to go places I've avoided for a long time. I felt completely supported to be right where I needed to be without any editing.
I am eternally grateful to have had the experience of exploring a deeper level of self-acceptance, love and healing.
